Why Choose Clipping?

A clipped coat is usually softer and lighter in colour than a stripped coat. It gives more of a fluffy, stuff animal, Teddy Bear look. Tika on the left is clipped, Jaffa on the right is stripped.

The down side to clipping is that a soft coat mats more easily, and doesn't repel water and dirt as well as a stripped coat. However, it is the preferred method for most owners as the dog is bathed, groomed and finished in one day as opposed to the 4 week span for hand stripping (please refer to the Hand Stripping page for details). The clipped coat also grows at a much faster rate than a stripped coat. As a result, more frequent grooming is required.
